The festival “Le Pressoir” in Targon is a festive annual event that celebrates the end of the of the grape harvest the Bordeaux region, with a varied and convivial program. Targon is a commune in the Gironde department in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region in south-west France. It lies around 35 kilometers southeast of Bordeaux, in the heart of the Entre-deux-Mers, a renowned wine-growing region. Targon is part of a hilly area, ideal for vine-growing vineyards, and benefits from a rural environment, with a charm of south-western France.

The 14th edition of the festival was held from October 11th to 13th 2024 at Espace René Lazare, in the village of Targon, Gironde. Admission is free of charge, encouraging everyone to participate according to their means.

This event focuses on activities for all: concerts, bands, fairground games, participatory workshops and entertainment for young and old. And it’s true, having experienced it first-hand, that all generations, from 7 to 77 years old, could be found blowing trumpets, clarinets, or playing percussion. And of course grape-pickers all sang and danced.

It’s a time a time for celebration after hard work in the vineyard.

New this year, a market of organic producers on Sunday mornings, in partnership with the Biotimarrons association. I tasted a delicious cheese tart with grapes (Pressoir festival obliged) and a crêpe filled with honey, ginger and propolis (good for adapting to the different temperatures of recent weeks). The program also included a variety of musical performances by and orchestras such as os Ciclones del Becerril,Titty Twister Brass Band, and Les Jaguars de Malibu.

Special mention to Compagnie Mechanic and its hilarious “Wet side Story”, which enchanted the audience, seated in a meadow under a radiant autumn sun.

In addition to the musical festivities, refreshment stands selling beverages (such as local beers and organic wine) and home-cooked were available on site, reinforcing the local and eco-responsible spirit of the event.

At the end of the Festival, you’d just like to be back at the entrance, so excellent were the artistic performances, the numerous volunteers, and the wildly festive atmosphere!

Not to be missed.
